Synaptica Linked Open Data Prize

2015 LODLAM Summit and the Synaptica Open Data Prize
The Third International Linked Open Data in Libraries, Archives and Museums Summit took place in Sydney June 29th and 30th. Synaptica was delighted to support the 2015 LODLAM Summit in Sydney by launching the ‘Open Data Prize’ as part of the LODLAM Challenge. The prize was available to participants of LODLAM who are working to make cultural heritage material openly available using Linked Open Data. This year’s prize was awarded to the PoliMedia project.
PoliMedia used Linked Data principles and text analytics technology to link together content derived from two disparate data sources. Specifically, the project was able to use Linked Data to build connections between parliamentary records and how the proceedings of government were represented in print and radio media.
The realized project has been published as a Linked Open Dataset with a Sparql Endpoint:

The iSchool at San José State University presents a Silicon Valley Success Story

RedLink boasts the most comprehensive framework for analysis of academic journals and will be able to use the innovative taxonomy created by the team for future product development. We are delighted the SJSU iSchool team chose Synaptica for their taxonomy development system. This project demonstrates how taxonomies help businesses achieve differentiation, and the benefit of academic-commercial collaboration.
