Graphite

Taxonomy and Ontology Management

A powerful tool for designing, building, and managing Knowledge Organization Systems (KOS) using an intuitive graphical user interface.

Graphite is based on Linked Data and Semantic Web standards and utilizes native RDF concept modeling.

Powered by a graph database, Graphite offers speed and flexibility in the creation and management of various types of controlled vocabularies including taxonomies and ontologies.

Key Graphite benefits include:

  • Quickly design, build, and manage enterprise Knowledge Organization Systems using an intuitive drag-and-drop graphical user interface and workflow
  • Centralize metadata KOS for rapid delivery to siloed information systems
  • Reuse schema templates to build standards-compliant KOS and EKGs in minutes
  • Reduce project costs and fast-track deliverables with libraries of public domain vocabularies
  • Create smarter search and discovery applications leveraging the business logic and semantics of defined schema
  • Simplify systems integrations by adopting industry standard data models and portable data formats
  • Scale with a powerful graph database combined with fast search indexes

Reduce costs and speed up

project deliverables by reusing a vast and rapidly growing library of public domain property vocabularies (ontologies) and value vocabularies (taxonomies)

Simplify systems integrations

by adopting open industry standard models and portable data interchange formats

Create KOS schemes

using public domain ontology plug-and-play predicates and classes

Build smarter search and discovery

Introducing Graphite 5.0

Video introducing new features for Graphite.

New in Graphite KOS 5.0

Graphite KOS 5.0

Graphite 5.0 has a graphical interface for managing vocabularies with features extending what can be done with knowledge models. Features include:

  • Scheme versioning and scheme forking
  • Repository archiving and restoration
  • Creation of predicates in the front-end UI, Concept Manager
  • Quick creation of a new concept from the workspace relationship panel
  • New concept creation autocomplete to check for existing concept with same label
  • Transferring properties and relationships between namespaces
  • Advanced search redesign and addition of property and relationship search parameters
  • Additional pre-configured search reports
  • Vocabulary rule checks, including top concept, circular references, and orphan concepts
  • Scheme and concept exports in pivoted row and column formats
  • Export saved query reports as they were originally run and with updated results
  • Audit logs via Graphite REST-based APIs
  • CSV concept export in API call
  • Saved query API for SharePoint Connector
  • Atlassian Confluence Wiki page tagging available at the top and bottom of a page via the Graphite Confluence Connector
  • The use of the site prefix (formerly base-uri) in configuration instead of browser
  • Internal resource URI based on site prefix instead of host name
